Organisation

The European Consortium for Accreditation in higher education (ECA) has been established in Córdoba in November 2003 and renewed in Kraków in June 2008.

The organisations participating in ECA meet annually in a plenary workshop. There will also be annual seminars or conferences with participation of stakeholders such as institutions, students, recognition bodies, government representatives and employers.

ECA consists of member agencies, a management group and secretariat, four working groups, and project groups (e.g. TEAM II).

Working groups

The work of ECA is carried out mainly by the following four Working Groups:

WG 1. Mutual recognition and joint programmes

WG 2. Institutional accreditation and audits

WG 3. Qrossroads and information strategies

WG 4. Mutual learning and best practices

If you are a member of one or more of these groups then please go here and log in with your e-mail address and password.

Work plans

The project activities carried out by the Working groups are described in annual Work plans. You can download these Work plans below.

Finances

ECA receives its regular income from membership contributions. Each member agency makes an annual contribution of EUR 3,000. In addition, there is the possibility for individuals to participate as observers in all meetings of ECA. These observers pay an annual fee of EUR 1,000. There are currently 2 observers from Sweden and Israel.

ECA partners also carry out projects funded by the European Commission. These projects support the work of ECA but are administered separately.

The annual accounts of ECA are audited by KPMG. You can download the most recent annual accounts below.
